When it comes to tracking and referrals to your site, there are a variety of options available to you.

Option 1: Use Your Existing Analytics System

Most customers already have a mechanism for viewing the analytics associated with their current website. If you already have log analysis for your current site, either through a third party ASP service or through a package you have bought, installed, and maintain, all you need to do is supply us with the javascript from your analytics package during the build. Please note that we cannot supply access to the raw logfiles associated with our webserver.

Option 2: Use WhatsOnWhen's Site Analytics

We provide basic site analytics through Urchin 5. There is a minimal monthly cost associated with access to the site analytics we provide; it provides all of the features in the basic package. It does not provide user experience tracking, clickthrough or campaign analysis, or any of the advanced features of the product - these are all available at additional cost, but are not included with our basic tracking packages.

WhatsOnWhen's Urchin-based analytics provides business-ready graphics and charting, information on unique visitors and sessions, requested page query terms, status and error information, referrals, search terms, search engine access to the site, and referral errors.

Speak to a sales representative for more information on this option, what it provides, and what the cost will be for the features you are interested in having.

Option 3: Third Party Site Analytics

WhatsOnWhen's system is compatible with any third-party analytics system which uses javascript-based user tracking. Packages which are supported include third-party ASP solutions from a variety of vendors, including:

  • Urchin On Demand, which provides site analytics, user tracking information with a variety of visualisation capabilities, keyword analysis, referral tracking, campaign tracking analytics with additional support for information from a variety of ad providers (including Google AdWords campaigns), trend reporting, and the ability to track conversions in ads, e-mail, and on your site.
  • Prophet's speed-trap, another e-Business intelligence package which can do campaign tracking, search engine performance analysis, usability tracking through user tracking, and analyses forms in your site to help you build better, more usable forms that lose fewer users. It is available as an ASP solution, and allows download of data and SQL access to the raw log information.
  • WebtraffIQ's system uses two lines of HTML in your site to monitor traffic on your site. It supports trend analysis, provides real-time results, supports user tracking, delivers weekly reports via e-mail, supports tracking of affiliate sites and referrers.
  • Intellitracker's web analytics system provides campaign tracking, promotion and competition analysis, affiliate program tracking, visitor identification and segmentation, conversion rates, process funnels and form abandonment, can integrate into third-party CRM systems, survey analysis, and supports e-mail, ads, and site tracking.

There are a variety of other solutions in the market as well; many hosting providers already provide analytics services for the customers on their hosting platforms. Customers interested in a third-party ASP product should compare features and prices across a number of providers which meet their requirements; the above are a few example of some of the ones we are familiar with.

There is no partnership agreement with the above ASP analytics providers and WhatsOnWhen; they are the recommendations of our technical staff, who in some cases have previous experience with some of the above providers or have used them with previous employers. No guarantees can be made by Whatsonwhen of the suitability of the above providers for your needs; your business is ultimately responsible for deciding what level of information your marketing and business organisations need to recover, and which service most appropriately meets your requirements on performance, access, visibility, analysis and analytics, and results.
