Just Add Weather: Incorporating Weather Data
WhatsOnWhen has implemented a feed from Intellicast which is available for licensing by our customers as a part of third-party content builds.
Amongst the many products which Intellicast provides, we have implemented support for
their current conditions information, updated every three hours
on thousands of locations around the globe. In addition, it provides five-day forecast
information on tens of thousands of locations.
WhatsOnWhen will happily incorporate weather into your design; we can provide the default images incorporated into our build, or can do more complex builds which include taking the day/night of the location into account, or choosing navigation elements on the website based on the weather in that location (a location-specific page, for example, where a lead-in photo of that location is always tied to the weather in that destination.
Providing Custom Images
Weather images can either be the default set which we use across all of our sites, or specific images provided by the customer. This information can be incorporated and encoded in a wide range of ways into a user's website, from simple images to transparent integration into the look and feel of menus, headers, and images across the site, depending on the customer's wishes and the technical cost of the build.
Images provided can be in any format, and any size; these images can be built to match the look and feel of your website, and should be sized the way you expect them to be viewed. As always, when creating content for the web, please ensure that download sizes are kept to reasonable levels.
The complete list of images, for those who wish to provide them, is as follows:
